This is an incredible homage to the Great Escape movie and real escape from Stalag Luft 3. Starting with an original A4 pencil drawing with white highlights on sepia recycled card Steve Teasdale has depicted the moment chief tunneller Flt Lt Johnny Bull is about to open the shaft on the evening of the Great Escape. Mounted alongside the drawing is a genuine Great Escape movie lobby card, featuring another recognisable tunnel scene as they all wait to leave. Underneath the lobby card is mounted a piece of Luftwaffe barbed wire, typically found around the various POW camps in Poland and Germany. The genuine signatures of real Great Escape tunneller Ken Rees and movie actor John Leyton (Willie the tunnel king) are also professionally mounted underneath. This whole montage is beautifully mounted to full conservation standards and ready to frame. This is a stunning item and a real gem for Great Escape fans. Size approx 61x43cm.
