This 1998 US edition chronicles the true story of Pappy Boyington and the Marine Fighting Squadron 214. The book features two signed bookplates. One signed by Pappy Boyington’s wingman Lt Col RW McClung, who scored 7 victories. The other is Glenn Bowers ( During World War II he flew 28 combat missions with the Marine Corps' famous Black Sheep Squadron and 58 missions with two other squadrons in the South Pacific. He was awarded 11 air medals and three Distinguished Flying Crosses). Both airmen feature a number of times in the book. The book also includes an original pencil portrait of Pappy Boyington on the title page by Steve Teasdale. The book is in unread, almost fine condition. It does have a barcode sticker on the back of the dustjacket which could be removed carefully. A lovely book with rare and relevant signatures and a collectable remarque.
