This hardback is a 2019 first edition. The book is in excellent condition, the dustjacket is whole and clean with no fading but has a very small amount of laminate lifting at the bottom of the rear part (see pic). The book includes an original drawing by Steve Teasdale of Anthony Deane - Drummond who was second in command in Operation Colossus, the very first airborne raid by British forces. The genuine signature of Deane-Drummond has been professionally mounted underneath the drawing on the title page. This is a fabulous book, telling the story of Colossus and the subsequent Operation Biting to steal the ‘Wurzburg’ radar dish.
Anthony Dean Drummond was the second-in-command of a commando force which destroyed an aqueduct in southern Italy (colossus), and was captured by enemy forces. He escaped from captivity, was recaptured, escaped again, and eventually made his way back to England sixteen months after the raid. He later served in Operation Market-Garden and was captured at Arnhem, but successfully escaped for a third time.
