This is a nice 1976 1st edition hardback copy of Night Intruder by 604 Sqn Nightfighter Pilot Jeremy Howard Williams. It features an extremely rare Howard Williams signature, dedicated to Bob (Robert) Wright. What makes it unique is that it belonged to Flt Lt Robert Wright, who was Dowding’s assistant and confidant during the Battle of Britain. Robert Wright was a huge advocate of Dowding and was witness to the way he was treated by the higher command after the Battle of Britain. He was the only author who was  given permission by Dowding to write his biography, which Wright did in the 1960’s. Wright flew in 604 Sqn with John Cunningham later in the war & became a Guinea Pig under Archibald McIndoe when he suffered burns in a mosquito crash. He wrote many books including Nightfighter with Jimmy Rawnsley and was also a technical advisor for the 1969 Battle of Britain movie. There is a photograph of Bob Wright, John Cunningham and Howard Williams which was obviously donated for the book by Bob Wright, as mentioned in the dedication. The book has been further enhanced by Steve Teasdale with a pencil drawing of a Nightfighter Beaufighter. The book is in very good condition with a small chip out of the dustjacket on the inside ( see photo of blurb) and there is a small hole above the written dedication, presumably made with a pen when the dedication was written by Howard Williams. This is a rare signed copy with great provenance.
