This 1942 1st edition copy of Brian Lane’s Spitfire (The experiences of a fighter pilot) is in very good condition, with little foxing and slight sunning to the dustjacket spine. The rare dustjacket has a small amount of chipping and creasing. The book has been enhanced with an original pencil drawing of Brian ‘ Sandy’ Lane ( called BJ Ellan in 1942 for censorship purposes ) by Steve Teasdale. The drawing has been signed in pencil by the artist and fellow 19 Squadron spitfire pilot Gordon Sinclair. Sinclair flew with Brian Lane when he first joined the squadron, through late 1939 and 1940, just moving before the Battle of Britain to another squadron as flight commander.

This is a highly collectable copy of this rare wartime first edition.
