This 1954 first edition of The Spirit in the Cage by SOE agent Peter Churchill is in very good condition for it’s age. The rare whole dustjacket has some small nicks and tears and is browning to the spine and edges. The book itself has some light spotting to the page edges but the pages themselves are very clean and bright. The spine is bumped and there is one page (in photos) which has been torn and professionally repaired. The book has been flat signed on the title page by Peter Churchill and it also features a large Remarqued original portrait pencil drawing of Churchill by Steve Teasdale. A collectable copy of this amazing story.
Peter Morland Churchill, DSO Croix de Guerre (14 January 1909 – 1 May 1972) was a British Special Operations Executive (SOE) officer in France during the Second World War. His wartime operations, which resulted in his capture and imprisonment in German concentration camps and his subsequent marriage to fellow SOE officer Odette Sansom, received considerable attention after the war, including a 1950 film.
