This is a mounted and framed original concept drawing for the Great Escape print released by Vector Fine Arts to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the escape. The drawing was one of a small number of concept ideas produced by Steve Teasdale when first commissioned by Vector. It includes sketches of figures, photographs of woods, skies and Goon towers which Steve used as initial research. The print was launched at Duxford air museum with many veterans of the Great Escape in attendance. This concept drawing was signed in pencil at this event by: Ken Rees, Jimmy James, Walter Morrison, Bobby Knealans, Jack Lyons, Leonard Hall, Frank Stone, Alan Bryett and Neil Stebbings. The drawing has been framed to incorporate the mounted pencil signatures of Sidney Dowse (rare escaper signature), (James & Lyon), John Leyton and Angus Lennie (actors from the Great Escape movie). We have included a photograph of the final print ( not included in the sale) so that you can see how the eventual image developed. The print is not included in the sale. This is a large framed drawing ( to conservation standard with UV glass included) which must be collected by the buyer. This is a one off piece and very unique. All 76 prints from the original release were sold out on the day!
