This 1991 hardback is in near fine condition. It tells the incredible story of Hanna Reitsch. Hanna Reitsch (29 March 1912 – 24 August 1979) was a German aviator and test pilot. Along with Melitta von Stauffenberg, she flight-tested many of Germany's new aircraft during World War II and received many honors. Reitsch was among the very last people to meet Adolf Hitler alive in the Führerbunker in late April 1945. She flew into the streets of Berlin to meet Hitler at his bunker in the final days of the war. He wanted her to stay with him in the bunker until the end and gave her a cyanide capsule to take when necessary. She flew back out with the Soviet army advancing on the city. The book features an original pencil drawing portrait of Reitsch by Steve Teasdale. Underneath the portrait is a professionally mounted rare signature of Hanna Reitsch, making this a highly collectable copy.
