This 2011 first edition hardback is in mint, unread condition. It features the story of Bernard ‘Pop’ Green, the oldest airman to be part of the Great Escape from Stalag Luft 3. He was recaptured and lucky to survive as fifty of his fellow escapees were murdered by the Gestapo. The book has been enhanced by an extremely large original pencil drawing Remarqued by Steve Teasdale on the title page. Steve was also responsible for the artwork painting shown on the book cover. Underneath the drawing is the professionally mounted pencil signature of fellow inmate Jack Lyon. Jack Lyon was shot down in a Whitley Bomber in 1941 and was sent to Stalag Luft 3, where he became a Stooge or lookout for the tunnel dig. The tunnel was discovered before he managed to escape.
A unique and collectable copy.
