This is a specially produced glossy bookplate bearing the original signature of Battle of Britain Pilot Archie McInnes. McInnes joinied the RAF Volunteer Reserve and was called up on 1 September 1939. He was commissioned at the beginning of July 1940, just a few days before the start of the Battle of Britain.

After converting to Hurricanes, McInnes joined No 601 Squadron at Exeter on 17 September and made his first flight the next day. He moved to No 238 Squadron at Chilbolton on 8 October 1940 and was released from the RAF in 1946 as a Flight Lieutenant.
This bookplate would fit perfectly in Archie’s book Against Adversity.
