This 1969 first edition is in very good condition, with some light browning to page edges and chips across the top of the dustjacket. This was the first official biography of Battle of Britain fighter command leader Sir Hugh Dowding, written by his personal aide during the battle, Robert Wright. Bob Wright later went on to have an operational career on Nightfighter Beaufighters. The book features a number of collectable highlights - firstly, it has been flat signed by Battle of Britain veteran and Beaufighter ace radar operator Flt Lt Terry Clark DFM. Secondly, it features a genuine mounted signature of author Robert Wright. Also included is a highly detailed pencil drawing of Sir Hugh Dowding by Steve Teasdale. The drawing has been signed by the artist AND Battle of Britain spitfire pilot Pilot Officer Norman Brown of 41 Squadron. Altogether this makes a highly collectable and one-off copy of the book which was first to defend High Dowding’s command during the Battle of Britain. Dowding writes of the full access to wartime documents he gave to Robert Wright for the writing of the book ( see photo for text ).
