London: Robert Hale, 1955. Octavo, black cloth with spine lettering, 192 pp., four double-sided plates and one map. Some preliminary foxing on page ends, back flyleaf browning , otherwise a very good copy in spine chipped dust-jacket. First edition. A personal account of Stefan James's life and experiences from the Imphal Valley in the early part of 1944 where he and his squadron confronted the Japanese forces flying a Hawker Hurricane. The book has been further enhanced with an original portrait Pencil drawing of Byron Duckenfield, a Battle of Britain Hurricane pilot who later fought in Burma. The original signature of Duckenfield has been professionally mounted underneath the portrait. A lovely book made more collectable with a relevant signature and drawing.
