This is a beautiful pencil drawing with white highlights on sepia recycled card by Steve Teasdale. It features the portrait of Sir Hugh Dowding, Leader of Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. Underneath the drawing is the professionally mounted rare signature of Robert Wright. Bob Wright, an RAF Nightfighter navigator who became a member of the Guinea Pig Club following a serious crash later in the war, was Dowding’s personal aide-de-camp during the Battle of Britain and was given permission by Dowding to write his first biography, thus defending Dowding’s position as head of Fighter Command during the Battle. He was no doubt with Dowding during many vital decisions during the Battle. Robert Wright was also an RAF advisor during the filming of the Battle of Britain movie. This bookplate would enhance any book on the Battle of Britain.
