This is a genuine silk Battle of Britain veteran’s tie, manufactured by Gieves & Hawkes of London. The ties could only be worn by members of the Battle of Britain Association and as such rarely come onto the market. This particular example comes from Spitfire pilot Reginald Gosling who flew with 266 Squadron during the Battle of Britain. Gosling went on to be a test pilot, flying the Me262 and Meteor. The tie is in excellent condition, with no fraying or loss of embroidery but does have some light staining from use and may benefit from a clean.
A rare find and would look amazing framed up.
