This is a 1986 first edition hardback in very nice condition. The book, written by famous Battle of Britain fighter pilot Peter Townsend details his role in the Battle of Britain and his experiences as a Hurricane night fighter pilot trying to locate German bombers during the London blitz. The book features a professionally mounted Peter Townsend pencil signature on the title page and an original pencil drawing portrait of Townsend on the opposite page by Steve Teasdale. 
Paddy Hemingway, the last of the few, flew with Townsend during this period on 85 Squadron and is mentioned a number of times in the book. A lovely copy of this relatively scarce first edition from one of ‘The Few’.
